Before I discovered how to meditate daily, I struggled to maintain my peace of mind which lead to issues.

I found that there’s a reason meditating in the morning is so powerful, it’s because how you start your day directly affects how you’ll end it.

Breath is crucial to human survival and the exhalation of toxins from the body.

In order to prepare your mind for stressors throughout the day, take a good thirty minutes to practice deep breathing from your diaphragm.

As someone who struggles with anxiety, deep breathing has changed the game for how I deal with stress. 

You should practice taking a deep breath, holding the air for at least five seconds(closing your eyes), then slowly exhaling

During this breath-work routine, I like to imagine inhaling positive energy and exhaling stress.

 

Reduce Phone Time

Electronics can take away sacred meditation time. If using meditation for stress, you should approach it with a clear/un-influenced mind immediately after you wake up

I’ve found that taking some extra time to lay in bed after waking up helps me set good intentions for the day.

You may find that laying in a relaxed position helps your mind think more expansively than if you were to be pre-occupied with a task.

Burning incense is one of the easiest ways to clear the energy of your home so that you can meditate smoothly.

Yoga is essential for getting your body prepared for the day. 

Personally, I’ve found that not stretching causes me to hold onto unneeded tension.

Stretches that I usually perform in the morning include:

  • Downward Dog 

  • Child’s Pose 

  • Middle Splits 

  • Lower Back Side Stretches 

  • Palm Stretches 

  • Cobra 

  • Hamstring Stretch

This is what I naturally gravitate towards in my morning stretch routine, but keep in mind that intuitive stretching can be very beneficial!

 

Take A Forest Bath

One of the best tips to meditate include going outside. 

I like to take at least one walk per day around my neighborhood with a brief detour into greenery to  feel immersed in nature. 

Not only is walking in nature great for your mental health, but you’re also breathing in fresh air.

Before I learned how to meditate at home, I thought that meditation involved sitting on the floor in silence with my legs crossed humming loudly.

After taking a college course on mindfulness meditation for anxiety, I realized that meditating is apart of daily life.

 

Exercising is a major form of mindful meditation for a lot of people because it forces your body to release endorphins and requires consistent focus. 

I know that whenever I feel stressed out, putting in my best effort at the gym clears my mind and makes me feel accomplished no matter what. 

Once you find your favorite meditation exercises, practice those until you feel comfortable with expanding your routine(maybe you’ll start with just laying, then you gradually grow to incorporate incense and herbal medicines for example). 

Now that we went over how to do meditation at home, you can start your journey to better wellness!

You’ll find that meditation won’t be the same for you everyday because our environments are forever evolving, just like life.
