While there are many types of psychedelic mushroom strains, Psilocybe Cubensis is probably the best-known species in the world.
Within the genus Psilocybe, there are several different varieties, each with unique characteristics such as appearance and potency.
Let’s discuss some of the most common types of psychedelic mushroom strains!
List of Psychedelic Mushroom Strains
Table of Contents
There are more than 180 different types of psychedelic mushroom strains!
Although some are more popular than others, we decided to present some of the most common types of psychedelic mushroom strains.
Alacabenzi Shrooms
According to the legend, the Alacabenzi strain is a cross between a natural P.cubensis variant from Alabama and Psilocybe Mexicana.
It produces large fruiting bodies and is considered a beginner-friendly strain among growers.
Albino A+ Psychedelic Mushroom Strains
Albino A+, also commonly known as AA+ is typically cream-colored or white, with a bluish tint.
It bruises blue when damaged, like other P. cubensis strains.
The strain itself is not a true albino, despite the name, it is rather leucistic(meaning that it has reduced pigmentation).
Often it grows slowly but produces big flushes.
B+ Mushroom Strains
B+ is a popular type of psychedelic mushroom strain among growers.
It is speculated that it’s a cross between P. Cubensis and P. Azurescens, which are two different mushroom species.
B+ produces big fruiting bodies and large yields.
Burma Psilocybin Mushrooms
This type of psychedelic mushroom strain originated in, you guessed it, Burma.
They are well known for their fast and aggressive growth, the potency of this strain is high and they produce an intense and enjoyable high.
Cambodian Shrooms
This psychedelic mushroom strain was discovered growing in the wilds of Cambodia, near Angkor Wat.
The fruiting bodies are small and decorated by brown caps with pale spots.
It is a highly popular strain among growers since it grows very rapidly and bears fruit quickly and abundantly.
Ecuadorian Types Of Shrooms
This psychedelic mushroom originated from the highlands of Ecuador.
It is a relatively large strain for a P. Cubensis with thick stems and caramel color caps.
It grows slowly but rewardingly as the flushes are generally large.
Fatass Psilocybin Mushroom Strain
The main characteristics of this psychedelic mushroom strain are short and fat stems with small caps.
They tend to be very dense due to their nature.
When drying, they won’t significantly reduce in size as other magic mushrooms.
Golden Teacher Mushrooms
This psychedelic strain usually produces large mushrooms with big yellow caps with pale spots.
Golden teacher mushrooms were found growing in the wild about forty years ago.
They are potent and easy to grow, making them a beginner-friendly strain.
Hawaiian Strain
The origins of this strain are not exactly known.
There are speculations that they were originally found in Hawaii, which is not exactly the ideal growing climate for this strain.
They produce large fruiting bodies with big brownish caps.
Z Strain
The Z strain is one of the most notorious P. cubensis strains.
They grow extremely fast and produce large, dense clusters of mushrooms.
For this reason, they are not considered suitable for beginners.
Most Potent Psychedelic Mushrooms
Now that we have gone through the most common stains, it’s time to talk about the most potent types of psychedelic mushrooms!
#1 Albino Penis Envy / Penis Envy
Penis Envy shroom are the most potent P. cubensis so far, this fact makes it the most popular strain in the world.
The history of penis envy mushrooms is almost as interesting as its potency.
It’s believed that the strain was created by mycologist Rich Gee, who received the spores from infamous ethnobotanist and psychonaut Terrance McKenna himself.
Penis Envy got its name from the male genitalia, but considering the potency, they’re definitely no joke.
#2 Enigma Shrooms
Enigma is by far the strangest P. cubensis mushroom strain out there, not only because it’s so potent, but because it doesn’t look like a P. cubensis strain at all.
It is a mutation of P. cubensis, and its appearance is what you would expect in a coral reef.
Because they do not have a cap that can produce spores, this strain has long been kept in the closed circle of mycologists; The only way to preserve this genus is to clone it.
Some growers even claim that Enigma is more potent than Penis Envy.
#3 Yeti Shroom Strain
This strain is a genetic isolation of True Albino Teachers, and as you can see, albino strains tend to be stronger than normally colored phenotypes.
Yeti is new to the scene, and appeared in 2021.
The Bottom Line
Since there are more than 180 types of psychedelic mushroom strains worldwide, we decided to narrow down the list.
If you are looking for the most potent psychedelic mushroom, remember the saying among mushroom growers, “Cube is a cube, except Penis Envy”.
